In a dystopian society governed by the "Prosperity Law", where 1 in 1000 random citizens ages 18~24 are selected to die for the state, the Japanese government issues death messages, or "ikigami", informing them that they have only 24 hours left to live. The film follows Kengo Fujimoto (Shota Matsuda), a young man tasked with delivering these messages, as well as the victims, who receive their "Ikigami" or "Death Letter" 24 hours in advance, accompanied by his choices and decisions in each case.
