Ryan's Daughter

Rosy Ryan (Sarah Miles), a schoolteacher and daughter of the local publican, Thomas Ryan, is married to the quiet Charles Shaughnessy, but becomes entangled in an affair with British officer Major Randolph Doryan. As the villagers, including a halfwit named Michael, begin to suspect her involvement with Doryan, they turn against her, leading to a violent confrontation. The film, set against the backdrop of World War I, explores the complexities of love, morality, and loyalty in the face of war and social upheaval.
