The Fugitive Kind

Valentine 'Snakeskin' Xavier, a guitar-playing drifter, arrives at a small town and gets a job in a store run by Lady Torrance, whose husband, Jabe, is dying of cancer. Val is befriended by the local sheriff's wife, a woman who has been abused by her husband, and falls for Lady, who has grand plans to open a confectionery. However, Carol Cutrere, a frequently drunk libertine outcast, sets her sights on the newcomer, causing Jabe's final acts of resentment, leading to tragic consequences.
