The Docks of New York

George Bancroft ("Bill") rescues a woman, Mae, who attempts to take her own life on New York's waterfront. She is a prostitute, and Bill, a blue-collar worker, takes her to a room above a dance-hall saloon, where they grow closer. However, when Bill leaves her, Mae is arrested and charged with theft, and Bill must confess to the crime to exonerate her. The film follows their complicated and ultimately redemptive relationship as they navigate the harsh realities of their lives.
