During the Cuban Missile Crisis, Bill Pullman plays Joshua Mansky, a troubled math genius and former US chess champion recruited to hold a public match against the Soviet champion in Warsaw, Poland. As he becomes embroiled in a deadly game of espionage, Mansky must confront his own demons and the sinister forces manipulating him. With the help of Lotte Verbeek's Agent Stone, Mansky navigates a treacherous web of deceit and betrayal, all while facing off against the cunning Soviet Grand Master Alexander Gavrylov, played by Aleksey Serebryakov.
