In 1964, a Pennsylvania band, The Wonders, scores a hit with their single "That Thing You Do!" and rides the star-making machinery as long as it can, with the help of their manager Mr. White. The band's sudden fame tests their strength, maturity, and responsibility, and they must navigate the temptations that come with fame and fortune.
