The Importance of Being Earnest

Two young gentlemen, John Worthing (Colin Firth) and Algernon Moncrieff (Rupert Everett), use the same pseudonym 'Ernest' to escape social obligations, leading to romantic entanglements and comedic misunderstandings. As their fictional brother's exploits become the focus of attention, John must navigate his true feelings for the beautiful Gwendolen Fairfax, while Algernon finds himself falling for John's ward, Cecily Cardew. Chaos ensues when both women discover they are engaged to men they believe to be named Ernest, resulting in a flurry of confusion and mistaken identities.
