Five Easy Pieces

Bobby Dupea, played by Jack Nicholson, is a talented pianist who has abandoned his privileged life to work as an oil rig worker, spending his days drinking and womanizing. When his father falls ill, Bobby returns to his family home in Washington, taking along his girlfriend Rayette DiPesto, played by Karen Black. As Bobby navigates his complicated past and present, he finds himself drawn to his sister Catherine Van Oost, a young pianist who challenges him to confront his emptiness and find inner feeling through music.
