La trinchera infinita

At the start of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, newlyweds Higinio (Antonio de la Torre) and Rosa are worried about the risk of reprisal killings, as Higinio is a Republican. They hide in a hole underneath their house, with Higinio's wife Rosa helping him. Despite the constant threat of discovery, as Falangists search for him, the couple's love helps them to remain resilient. As the years pass, Higinio becomes increasingly isolated in his hiding spot, where he stays until the 1969 amnesty, when he finally manages to leave the hole, after 33 years of solitude.
