For the Love of a Child

"For the Love of a Child" is a 2006 Lifetime television film that tells the story of two actresses, Sara and Yvonne, who start a charity to support mixed-race orphans neglected as outcasts in Asia and later in the US. Their efforts are aided by the devoted staff at a rural farm, led by the competent and compassionate Annie, who uses animal therapy to help the children recover from traumatic pasts. Peri Gilpin and Teri Polo star as the lead actresses, with Maria del Mar playing a key role as Annie, who helps Jacob Fletcher, played by Matthew Knight, overcome his own troubled history with an abusive stepfather, John Pyper-Ferguson.
