Mr. Nice

The film follows Howard Marks, a Welsh marijuana trafficker who runs one of the biggest global cannabis smuggling operations from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. Born in the Welsh valleys in 1945, Marks excels academically at Oxford University, where he meets a foreign exchange student named Ilze Kadegis, who introduces him to cannabis. Marks becomes a successful marijuana smuggler, associating with colourful characters, including the IRA and MI6, before serving time in the US prison system. After his release, Marks becomes a pro-cannabis campaigner, stand-up comedian, and media personality, using his experiences to make a name for himself in the 1970s and 1980s.
