The Banker

The Banker follows the true story of Bernard Garrett, an African American real estate investor, played by Anthony Mackie, and Joe Morris, played by Samuel L. Jackson, who team up to challenge racist banking practices and fight for equal access to the American Dream in 1960s Los Angeles. As they become successful in their business, they also take on the local bank in Joe's Texas hometown, facing fierce resistance from racist bank executives who threaten to expose their operations. Matt Steiner, played by Nicholas Hoult, poses as the front of the company to facilitate sales, but ultimately takes a plea deal to avoid a 50-year prison term, testifying against his partners in a dramatic twist.
