The film follows Georges Laurent (Daniel Auteuil), a host of a literary TV show, as he and his wife Anne (Juliette Binoche) receive anonymously filmed videos of their family, which reveal a stalker who has known him for a very long time. The tapes become increasingly intimate, revealing Georges' suppressed past and his childhood memories, including his complicated relationship with an Algerian orphan named Majid, whose parents were killed in the 1961 Seine River massacre. As the investigation unfolds, Georges' guilt and paranoia intensify, leading to a shocking confrontation with Majid's son, who reveals a dark secret about Georges' past.
