Taegukgi hwinallimyeo

The film tells the story of two brothers, Lee Jin-tae and Lee Jin-seok, who are forcibly drafted into the South Korean army at the outbreak of the Korean War. In 1950, the brothers are assigned to the 1st Infantry Division, with Jin-tae volunteering for dangerous missions to shield his younger brother from battle. Jin-tae earns the highest award for a South Korean soldier, the Taeguk Cordon of the Order of Military Merit, but his experiences have made him into a cold-blooded killer. After the war, Jin-tae is presumed dead by his brother, who is taken in by their mother and goes on to fulfill a promise he made to his deceased brother. Years later, an elderly Jin-seok discovers his brother's remains, and they have a tearful reunion before Jin-seok returns home to their mother.
