A 66-year-old grandmother, Yang Mi-ja, enrolls in a poetry class to cope with her faltering memory and her grandson's appalling wrongdoing. The grandson, Jong-wook, is a 16-year-old who has repeatedly raped a girl, Agnes, over the past six months, before she jumped off a bridge into a river and drowned. Mi-ja, who is diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer's disease, attempts to confront Jong-wook about his actions, but he ignores her. As Mi-ja navigates her daily life, including her part-time job caring for an elderly man and her interactions with Detective Park, a brash man who occasionally reads poetry at the weekly readings.
