I Want to Go Home

Joey Wellman (Adolph Green) visits France with his partner Lena (Linda Lavin) to attend an exhibition about comic strips, featuring his work, while also hoping to reconnect with his daughter Elsie (Laura Benson), who has been living in Paris for two years. Elsie is infatuated with French literature and wants to meet the university professor Christian Gauthier (Gérard Depardieu), who is an expert on Flaubert and a comic book enthusiast. The family joins Gauthier's mother, Isabelle (Micheline Presle), at her country house for a comic-themed masquerade party, where they are forced to confront their past and present relationships.
