Mai wei

The film "Mai wei" (2011) tells the story of Kim Jun-shik, a Korean man who serves in the Japanese, Russian, and German armies during World War II, and his unlikely friendship with a Japanese nationalist, Tatsuo Hasegawa. As they are conscripted to different fronts, they find themselves on opposite sides of the war, but ultimately reunite in Normandy during the invasion. The film follows their incredible story, which inspired director Kang Je-gyu to create this epic war drama, based on the true story of Yang Kyoungjong.
