If I Were You

Madelyn, a marketing professional, spots her husband canoodling with his mistress, Lucy, in a restaurant, leading to a series of events that include Madelyn befriending Lucy, helping her regain confidence, and getting her into a production of King Lear, where Madelyn plays Lear (as a Queen) and Lucy is the fool. With the help of Madelyn, Lucy develops her acting skills and Madelyn finds a new connection with her husband. Marcia Gay Harden stars as Madelyn, playing a meaningful role as the supportive mother figure to Lucy. The film pays homage to the theater and the play of King Lear.
