In 1998 Macau, former mobster Wo (Nick Cheung) lives quietly with his wife, Jin (Josie Ho), and his newborn child in an undistinguished apartment, having turned over a new leaf. However, vengeful mobster Boss Fay (Simon Yam)—whom Wo once tried to assassinate—has dispatched a pair of ageing hitmen to cut that peaceful existence short. Once arrived, Wo's childhood friends and hitmen Blaze (Anthony Wong), Fat (Lam Suet), Tai (Francis Ng) and Cat (Roy Cheung), discuss if they are going to protect Wo or carry on with the boss' orders. A gunfight erupts in a restaurant with Fay being shot in the leg and Keung in the arm, leading to an uneasy truce among the group. The friends then decide to take a severely wounded Wo to an underground clinic for medical assistance, but are betrayed by Fay, who pins Wo down and forces his friends to flee. Wo dies shortly after, and his wife, Jin, seeks revenge, leading to a final confrontation between the remaining friends and Boss Fay, resulting in the deaths of all parties involved.
