Bushi no ichibun

The film "Love and Honor" (Bushi no Ichibun) tells the story of Shinnojo, a low-level samurai who falls into a coma after tasting poisonous sashimi, becoming blind. After he awakens, he discovers that his wife, Kayo, has been forced to prostitute herself by their uncle's business partner, Toya Shimada, to maintain their stipend. Shinnojo, determined to avenge his wife's dishonor, trains as a blind swordsman and seeks to confront Shimada in a duel. Ultimately, Shinnojo defeats and dismembers Shimada, but the samurai's death is concealed to avoid shame. The film follows Shinnojo and Kayo's reconciliation and their new life together.
