A beleaguered Hollywood film crew brings chaos to a small Vermont town, inhabited by residents who don't know what hit them. The crew, led by director Walt Price, is trying to finish shooting The Old Mill, but they face numerous challenges, including a burned-down mill, a demanding leading lady, and a local teen involved with the leading man. Philip Seymour Hoffman's character, Joseph Turner White, is a troubled screenwriter who struggles with writer's block, while Alec Baldwin plays Bob Barrenger, the leading man with a penchant for underage girls.
