Ichiko bakes a cake for an end-of-year party with her friends, while in the village, making mochi and curry keeps the people warm during the harsh winters. As spring arrives, thoughts of her absent mother and rice planting take over, and Ichiko begins to consider leaving the village again. The film explores the changing seasons and the simple, yet meaningful, ways of village life, as exemplified by Ichiko's culinary traditions.
