A group of Flemish resistance fighters, led by Stan (Koen De Bouw), are ordered to travel to the Belgian Congo to operate a captured German U-boat, which they use to deliver a cargo of Uranium-235 to New York City. With the help of a French-speaking Congolese worker named Jenga, the untrained crew must outwit the German Navy and overcome obstacles to bring the cargo safely to America. Along the way, they face numerous challenges, including a German destroyer and the loss of several crew members. The surviving members of the mission are finally able to relax in the US, where they learn of the surrender of Japan following the use of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, marking the end of World War II.
