Les sorcières de Salem

In 1692, Salem, Massachusetts, a wave of hysteria engulfs the town as Abigail Williams accuses John Proctor's wife, Elizabeth, of being a witch in revenge for being seduced by John. The accusations lead to a series of tragic trials, with Thomas Putnam and Reverend Parris playing key roles in the denunciation of the accused. As the trials intensify, John Proctor and his wife refuse to sign a confession, leading to their eventual execution, with John's pregnant wife spared. Simone Signoret stars as Elizabeth Proctor, opposite Yves Montand as John Proctor.
