A depressed single woman from New Hampshire is compelled to give a questionable man a ride and allows him to briefly recuperate at her verging-on-rundown house where she lives with her son, who's almost 13. As the search for an escaped convict goes on, the mother and son connect with him, coming close to moving with him to Canada.
