The Browning Version

The Browning Version is a 1951 British drama film about Andrew Crocker-Harris (Michael Redgrave), a classics teacher at an English public school who is forced to retire due to illness. After a series of unexpected events, including discovering his wife's infidelity and the students' disdain for him, Andrew is touched by the kindness of one student, Taplow (Brian Smith), who brings him a gift of a Robert Browning translation. This act of kindness sparks a transformation in Andrew, who ultimately decides to apologize for his own failures as a teacher and find redemption.
