Vera Drake

Imelda Staunton plays Vera Drake, a middle-aged woman devoted to her family, who secretly provides abortions for young women. Her husband Stanley (Phil Davis) and children, including her shy daughter Ethel (Sally Hawkins) and son Sid (Daniel Mays), are unaware of her activities. Vera's actions clash with the mores of 1950s Britain, leading to tragedy for her family, including her arrest and subsequent imprisonment.
