The Blue Knight

Bumper Morgan, played by William Holden, is a 20-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department who must work on the murder of a prostitute before retiring. Along the way, he faces vicious thugs, mixed feelings from his fellow officers, and his woman who wants him to leave the streets. Lee Remick plays Cassie Walters, Bumper's woman. The film was inspired by Joseph Wambaugh's novel of the same name and was broadcast on NBC TV in November 1973 as a miniseries, later released as a condensed theatrical film.
