Fanny Lye Deliver'd

On a rural Shropshire farm in 1657, Fanny Lye (Maxine Peake) lives with her oppressive husband John and their young son, but her life is disrupted by the arrival of Thomas and Rebecca, a young couple claiming to have been robbed and in need of shelter. As Fanny becomes increasingly influenced by Thomas' and Rebecca's non-traditional values, her husband's authoritarian rule is challenged, and the line between truth and deception is blurred. The film, written and directed by Thomas Clay, premiered in October 2019 and has received positive reviews from critics for its solid performances and symbolic tension between old and new ideas.
