Gui xin niang

In "Gui xin niang" (1987), a man named Pu Yung-tsai, played by Chow Yun-fat, buys an antique desk that unleashes a ghost, played by Cherie Chung, who is a vengeful spirit stuck between the afterlife and the mortal world. Yung-tsai's decision to release the ghost, Wei Hsiao-tieh, allows her to escape her forced marriage and return to Earth, but also puts his life at risk. As Yung-tsai falls in love with Hsiao-tieh, he must confront his past and the ghost of his former girlfriend, May, played by Pauline Wong, who returns as a vengeful spirit.
