Hider in the House

In the 1989 psychological thriller "Hider in the House," Gary Busey plays Tom Sykes, a deranged man who hides in the attic of a new house and becomes obsessed with the unsuspecting Dreyer family that moves in. Tom uses electronic surveillance to spy on Julie (Mimi Rogers), the mother, and manipulates the family's son, Neil, teaching him fighting techniques. As tensions rise, Tom resorts to violence to maintain his façade, leading to a violent confrontation with Julie, who ultimately shoots him, saving her husband Phil (Michael McKean) from his clutches.
