Fandango

In 1971, five college buddies from the University of Texas embark on a final road trip odyssey across the Mexican border before facing up to uncertain futures, in Vietnam and otherwise. At a fraternity house on the University of Texas campus in Austin, a graduation party is going on, where Gardner Barnes, a member of a clique called the Groovers, announces his student deferment has expired and he is now to be drafted into the Vietnam War. The Groovers decide to celebrate their last days before the draft by going on a road trip, intending to visit a notorious roadhouse, then "dig up" someone - or something - named Dom near the Rio Grande. Along the way, they meet up with townie girls, play in a cemetery, and eventually come upon a fallen Vietnam War soldier's tombstone. The group sees a sign for a parachute school giving jumping lessons, and Gardner cons the instructor into giving Phil a free lesson. The film follows the boys' wild and unpredictable journey as they face the reality of their uncertain futures.
