A Thousand Clowns

Murray Burns, a unemployed television writer, struggles to balance his eccentric lifestyle with the demands of his 12-year-old nephew, Nick, who is facing a social worker's threat to remove him from Murray's custody unless the writer proves himself a capable guardian. Murray's reluctance to conform to society leads to a series of comedic misadventures, while Nick tries to mediate between his uncle and the social worker, Sandra Markowitz. As Murray agrees to find a job, he must confront the idea of losing his unconventional identity and the freedom that comes with it.
