First Man Into Space

Commander Charles Ernest Prescott (Marshall Thompson) must find his brother, Lt. Dan Milton Prescott (Bill Edwards), who piloted the high-altitude rocket Y-13, after it vanishes and a mysterious creature starts killing in New Mexico, driven by a craving for blood. As Chuck investigates, he discovers that the creature's "cosmic protection" covering may be responsible for Dan's survival, but has now caused him to become a monster. Dan eventually finds refuge in a high-altitude testing chamber, where he is reunited with his humanity and, in a poignant moment, admits to being the first man into space.
