Hero

The film "Hero" (1992) follows Bernie Laplante, a pickpocket and petty criminal, who anonymously rescues survivors, including TV reporter Gale Gayley, at an airplane crash. Bernie steals her purse, losing a shoe in the process. John Bubber, a homeless Vietnam War veteran, tells Gale about the rescue, providing the single shoe to take credit for the selfless act, and inspires Gale's grooms his public image. As Gale finds herself falling in love with John, Bernie continues to aggravate his ex-wife, Evelyn, and fails to bond with their son, Joey, who idolizes John.
