Torch Song Trilogy

The film follows Arnold Beckoff, a gay man working as a female impersonator in 1970s New York City, as he searches for love and acceptance. He finds the love of his life in Alan, and the couple applies to foster a child together with the goal of adoption, but tragedy strikes when Alan is killed in a homophobic attack. The film then explores Arnold's confrontation with his overbearing mother, who has never accepted his lifestyle, leading to a confrontation that ultimately leads to Arnold's emotional fulfillment.
