Meu Nome Não é Johnny

The film "Meu Nome Não É Johnny" (2008) tells the true story of João Guilherme Estrella ("Johnny"), a young middle-class man from Rio de Janeiro who became a big-time cocaine dealer in the early 1990s. Selton Mello stars as João, a teenager who, after his parents' divorce, starts partying and eventually gets caught up in the glamorous world of drug dealing. João's story is narrated as a tale of rehabilitation, with Selton Mello's character ultimately taking pity on a woman who would face blame instead of him. The film explores the glamorization of the drug lifestyle, juxtaposing João's luxurious dealings with the harsh reality of prison life.
