Country of My Skull

"Country of My Skull" tells the story of Anna Malan, an Afrikaner poet (Juliette Binoche), and an American journalist, Langston Whitfield (Samuel L. Jackson), who fall in love while covering the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings. As they travel the country, they encounter various Afrikaners struggling to come to terms with the end of apartheid, including Anna's family, who are uncertain about their place in post-Apartheid South Africa. Through their work, Whitfield befriends Anna and her colleagues, including sound engineer Dumi Mkhalipi, and comes to develop a deeper understanding of the universal bond of Ubuntu, or restorative justice.
