La Llorona is a 2019 Guatemalan horror film directed by Jayro Bustamante. The film is set in a mansion where former dictator Enrique Monteverde, played by Julio Díaz, is trapped by massive protests following his conviction for the genocide of the Mayan people. As supernatural activity involving water ensues, Enrique's family is plagued by terrifying visions and encounters with the vengeful spirit of a young woman named Alma, played by María Mercedes Coroy.
