Aquarius

In 1980, Clara celebrates her aunt's birthday at the Aquarius apartment building in Recife with her family, including her husband, who has just overcome breast cancer. Seventeen years later, Clara, now a retired journalist and writer, refuses to accept a buy-out from a development company that wants to replace the old building with a larger, more nondescript structure, even though all the other apartments are already vacant. With the help of her friends Roberval, a lifeguard, and Cleide Vieira, a lawyer, Clara digs up dirt on the company, confirms that the developer, Diego, has installed termite nests in empty apartments, and confronts him and the company's head, Geraldo.
