The Chase

In a small East Texas town, Sheriff Calder (Marlon Brando) must track down escaped convict Bubber Reeves (Robert Redford), whose prison break sets off a chain of events of drunken revelry, vigilantism, and racial tensions. As Bubber navigates the town, Anna Reeves (Jane Fonda), his ex-girlfriend, and her secret beau, Jake, join forces to help him evade capture. Meanwhile, the townspeople, including the hot-headed Emily Stewart, descend into chaos, leading to a violent confrontation that ultimately ends in tragedy.
