Da Shang Hai

In the 1910s, fruit vendor Cheng Daqi is framed for murder and imprisoned, where he's saved by military officer Mao Zai. After his escape, Cheng becomes a mob boss in Shanghai, befriending and eventually marrying a singer named Bao. Two decades later, Cheng has become a powerful tycoon, but his relationships are complicated, including with his childhood friend Xiaopang and his old flame Ye Zhiqiu, who is now married to anti-government activist Cheng Zhaimei. As the Second Sino-Japanese War breaks out, Cheng and Ye must navigate their loyalty to their loved ones and the Japanese army, leading to a tragic confrontation.
