Ryder Hart (Peter Weller), a down-on-his-luck private detective and former police officer, teams up with Jeff Carruthers (Michael Anderson, Jr.), a Los Angeles police detective who is romantically involved with Hart's estranged wife Anita (Alexandra Paul), to solve the murder of someone close to them. Their investigation leads them to uncover a mystery involving illegal immigrants from Mexico, including employees of the Sunset Grill, a bar and restaurant run by Anita.
