After being released from jail, the son of a con man, Ritchie Flynn Parker (Alessandro Nivola), joins his father, Nat Parker (Christopher Walken), on the road, where they embark on a series of misadventures to fulfill Nat's terminal brain tumor treatment. Along the way, Richie discovers his father's shady past, including a life of scams and con-man antics. Nat shows Ritchie an x-ray of his skull, asking him to drive him to New Mexico to seek a potential cure, leading to a series of chaotic and humorous events.
