Nightcrawler

When Lou Bloom, desperate for work, muscles into the world of L.A. crime journalism, he blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story. Aiding him in his effort is Nina, a TV-news veteran. Lou steals an expensive bicycle and pawns it for a camcorder and a police radio scanner, then records the aftermath of a fatal carjacking and sells the footage to KWLA 6. He hires Rick, a young homeless man desperate for money, as his assistant. As Lou's work gains traction, he buys better equipment and a faster car, establishing a working relationship with Nina at KWLA 6.
