In 19th-century Wismar, Germany, a real estate agent named Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania to finalize the purchase of a property in his hometown. His journey becomes a descent into horror as he meets the mysterious Count Dracula and falls deeply in love with a photograph of his beautiful wife Lucy, leading him to make a pact for her eternal life. With Herzog's signature style, the film weaves together elements of Gothic romance, gothic horror, and melodrama to create a haunting portrait of a man consumed by his desires and driven by a thirst for immortality.
