Di jiu tian chang

Two married couples adjust to the vast social and economic changes taking place in China from the 1980s to the present. The film follows the life of Liu Yaojun (Wang Jingchun) and Wang Liyun (Yong Mei), a married couple contented enough until a tragedy disheartens them, causing them to move to a more urban existence that doesn't suit anyone, particularly their adopted son Liu Xing (Roy Wang) who takes recalcitrance to an whole new level and walks out on them one day. As the families navigate their lives with non-chronological flashbacks, the film speaks of affection, getting married, having and raising children, collective dismissal because of economic reform, ups and downs in life, grief, and many social changes in China.
