Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey

In 1984, 17-year-old Lisa McVey is kidnapped and held captive for 26 hours by serial killer Bobby Joe Long. After her ordeal, she returns home to her neglectful grandmother Diane and her grandmother's boyfriend, Morris Elwood, who has a history of sexually abusing her. Detective Sergeant Larry Pinkerton, who specializes in sex crimes, takes Lisa's case and works tirelessly to find her abductor, eventually leading to Bobby Joe Long's arrest outside a movie theater. Lisa's bravery and testimony help bring her abductor to justice, and she goes on to become a deputy sergeant in sex crimes, dedicating her life to protecting young people from similar situations.
