Defiance

Tommy, a merchant seaman, finds himself stuck in New York City with nothing to do after receiving a six-month suspension. He rents a cheap apartment on the Lower East Side, where he encounters a group of violent gang members known as the Souls, led by Angel Cruz. With the help of his neighbors, particularly Marsha Bernstein and her young boy, Tommy starts to fight back against the gang, changing the attitudes of those around him in the process.
