Fear and Desire

Fear and Desire is a 1952 American independent anti-war film directed, produced, and edited by Stanley Kubrick in his directorial debut, and written by Howard Sackler. The story is set during a war between two unidentified countries, where four soldiers from one country crash-land six miles behind enemy lines and must survive and find a way back to their battalion. As they navigate the war-torn landscape, they come across a young peasant girl, leading to a descent into delirium and ultimately, tragedy. Frank Silvera plays Sgt. Mac, Kenneth Harp plays Lt. Corby/The General, and Virginia Leith plays The Girl.
